Intro to Lancaster

I am now settled into life at Lancaster. Last week was a whirlwind of entertainment for Fresher's Week here - getting to know others in my college as well as some of the international students here. Unlike at home, everyone here is of legal drinking age, so most activities centered around going clubbing, which was okay in my books! Of course, I took a few nights out to chill with other internationals or with my house.

Lancaster is a small, mostly student, town/city of about 60000. The university is about a 5-10 minute bus ride from town, and just outside the campus is a sheep pasture on one side and cow pasture on the other - definitely gives a unique feel to the ride into town!

I'm living on campus in a townhouse with 12 others. There are 4 floors, with the top 3 having 4 people and 2 bathrooms on each. I inhabit the "Penthouse" with 3 creative writing/lit students who are all in third year. There's another exchange student in our house - an American named Josh who looks like Jesus!

Along with classes and going out, I've been going to some society events here. I auditioned for a few plays with the Theatre Group, and got the news last night that I got a part in the play "Black Comedy". I'll likely also do a couple dance clubs and perhaps a running group. We'll see how many of those last!

Overall, Lancaster's given me a great first impression! It's often rainy (being as it's England), but the campus is closed, and has one main covered pathway connecting most buildings, so rain doesn't necessarily mean getting wet! Thankfully, today was gorgeous, allowing me to wander in town after one of my classes today, which is at the Cumbria campus in town.

If anyone needs my address, I've put it below:
